ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Who would write a novel about a mythological god taking over a global corporation?
Meet Dave Dent, author of “Alex Webster and the Gods.”
Says Dave, “I asked myself the question, if an old god wants control in a modern world, would he come back as a god? Or would he decide returning as a major CEO is better? From there, the story just unfolded.”
He is currently working on a sequel, called “The Greta Garbo Goddess”. As Tolstoy might have said, all happy gods are alike, but unhappy gods are unhappy in their own way.
His short story, “The Making of A Hero”, an alternative, but satisfying account of the Kennedy assassination won honourable mention in the genre category of the Writer’s Digest 73rd Annual Short Story Writing Contest.
Trained as an economist with a Bachelors and Masters degree from McMaster University, in Hamilton, Ontario, Dent has enjoyed a varied career. Prior to becoming a writer, he worked as an economic consultant, lectured in economics at Ryerson University in Toronto and wrote as a freelance writer on education issues. He has held senior positions in economics and finance in multibillion dollar corporations.
